The GOP needs a leader, and we are that leader.

The one thing that unites all members of the GOP

Government should always be the solution of last resort.

From Freerepublic.com to Townhall.com and U4prez.com to countless other conservative blogs and websites, it is clear that the grass roots of the Republican party are not nearly as divided as many in the MSM would have you believe. We are united around a core set of principles that have guided the GOP for a generation now. These principles are rooted in fiscal responsibility and limited federal government.

The party GOP at a national level is searching for leadership. We, the grass roots of the party, will provide that leadership.
This blog will reflect not just my ideas, but more importantly the ideas and views of the grass roots.

While there may be differences among us, they are not so divisive as to cause us to waver in our support for candidates and leaders who stray from the path of monetary responsibility and fiscal conservatism.

Here are the answers to a few questions you may have.

  1. What will this blog accomplish?
  2. Why I am assuming the position of de facto leader of the Republican party at the Grass Roots level.
  3. What are the issues that unite us?
  4. What do we demand from our Republican leadership?

What will this blog accomplish?

This blog will be used as a central point of contact to aggregate the views of the rank and file members of the Republican party, and fiscally conservative independents. While not every conservative will agree with every position, the political leaders in Washington D.C. should have the utmost confidence that the positions espoused here are indeed the views of the vast majority of your supporters and constituents. I will utilize forums, blogs, email and direct contact with the grass roots to ensure that the positions posted are widely supported.

Why I am assuming the position of de facto leader of the Republican party at the Grass Roots level?

I am assuming this position because it is needed. The role of Michael Steele is to get Republicans elected to office. The goal of the Voice of the GOP Grass Roots is to make sure those candidates reflect our views, and will work diligently to bring about legislation and policy that reflects our views and desires. Over the last several months I have spent hundreds of hours on forums and blogs discussing issues, and reading the thoughts of other like minded Americans. Every day I read more and more posts at Freerepublic.com, and other sites that lead me to believe my views are an accurate reflection of the rank and file.

What are the issues that unite us?

1. Fiscal Conservatism

The first (and most important to many) is fiscal conservatism. I share the view that fiscal conservatism is important. I believe however that we must clearly define for our political leaders what we mean when we say we are fiscal conservatives. We must make it a primary goal to contrast fiscal conservatism with "fiscal responsibility". These are two different visions and usually end up in conflict. Democrats can claim fiscal responsibility when they increase spending by increasing taxes. History shows us time and again that this does not work. Fiscal conservatism dictates that every single dollar the politicians spend must be properly viewed as belonging to the people of the United States of America, and should be spent wisely, if at all. Fiscal conservatism does not and will not stand alone. We must not allow our politicians and pundits to separate fiscal conservatism from sound monetary policy.

2. Sound Monetary Policy

The history of government, economics and politics reveals a few truths that never waver. England under the guidance of Queen Elizabeth, The United States of America in the 19th Century can be contrasted with the Spanish Empire, The Weimar Republic and countless other nations. Nations that protect the borders from foreign invaders, and the currency from devaluation survive and prosper. When nations devalue the currency, liberty will be restrained, life will become nasty brutish and short for the citizenry, and without fail, the government will collapse. History shows us no exceptions.

3. Strong National Defense

To some, the term strong national defense has become confused with maintaining a standing army at the ready. I have found that this is not the view of many grass roots Republicans. The people who support you may disagree on the level of defense, but there is no disagreement that the nation should be prepared.

4. Freedom as determined and set forth in the Constitution.

Our political leaders must make every effort to avoid any laws or regulations that trample the rights of the individual.

5. States have distinct rights that should not be infringed.

Many of the problems in our nation can be tied directly to interference by the Federal Government at the state level. Logic and reason would suggest that this issue should be as important to Democrats and liberals as it is to Republicans and conservatives. If the federal taxes to pay for all of our social programs and regulations were not so high, California could have the exact government it desires, and would still run a surplus every year, and enjoy lower taxes. This dichotomy is surely the most confusing in all of American politics.

4. What do we demand from our Republican politicians?

  • A Republican who spends our money without exerting every effort to avoid it, is no Republican.

  • Any Republican who compromises for the sake of compromise, personal gain, or the gain of a special interest to the detriment of the nation deserves to lose our support.

  • Every Republican politician must assess each decision through the prism of monetary policy, fiscal conservatism and reduction of the deficit and debt. Morally, we should be guided by a common cause to eliminate half of the federal debt before it is place upon the backs of our children.
  • Our politicians should reflect the will of the people. Great politicians need not lead, we will push you. If you feel you are being pushed against the grain of your core beliefs, perhaps you are in the wrong party.

How can you help?

If you want your voice to be heard by our politicians we must speak as one voice wherever possible. Send a link to this blog to your GOP representatives.

Please e-mail me if there are issues you would like to have highlighted.
